Budshead Wood Local Nature Reserve

Budshead Wood is located in the north of Plymouth immediately east of the residential district of Ernesettle and south of Tamerton Creek. Combined with Woodland Woods Local Nature Reserve to the east, it provides a significant expanse of woodland within the local landscape. The site covers 14.6ha and is owned by Plymouth City Council and managed by Park Services. Budshead is recognised as an ancient woodland site, although the presence of Hornbeam (not native to South West England) in the woods indicates that it has been replanted in the past. The reserve supports a variety of plant and animals species including 140 flora species.

The reserve can be accessed by public transport from Budshead Road near the reserve. The site contains a number of footpaths across the site and easy access to Woodland Wood.
