Diamond Jubilee street parties

To mark 60 years of the Queen’s reign the Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012. The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend from Saturday 2 June to Tuesday 5 June 2012 and many people will be considering a street party to mark the event.

If you are thinking of holding an outdoor party on the public highway (any road or footway maintained by Plymouth Transport and Highways) you will need a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) to close the road.

We are expecting a large number of TTRO applications for the Diamond Jubilee and are asking residents to contact us as soon as possible to register their interest. Expressions of interest must be made by Friday 13 April 2012. This will help us to establish how many people want to hold parties and where.

Please send us your name, telephone number, email or postal address and the location and time you want to hold your street party. Email highways@plymouth.gov.uk, call 01752 668000 or write to us at Plymouth Transport and Highways, Civic Centre, Armada Way, Plymouth, PL1 2AA.

We will consider all expressions of interest. If we are happy with the proposed location we will send road closure application forms to organisers in mid April 2012. We cannot agree to too many parties in one area and we may refuse your application if someone else is organising a street party near you (if this happens we will put you in contact with the other party organiser).
