Designs
Options for the scheme are still being defined and at this time, March 2008, the improvements being investigated include:
Deep Lane junction
- New access to Langage
- Additional capacity at the junction
- Bus priority measures
Sherford
- Not part of the major scheme bid
A379: Stanborough Cross to Pomphlett roundabout
- Nearside bus lanes
- New bus link along disused railway line
- Junction improvements and improved bus priority
A379: Pomphlett Roundabout to Laira bridge
- Central running bus lanes
- New link along disused railway line
- Junction improvements and improved bus priority
Laira bridge
- Additional capacity across bridge to provide central running bus lane
- Relocation of pedestrians/cyclists on north side of bridge to adjacent disused bridge
East End
- Provision of additional road space through area
- Reduction of traffic through Embankment Road and Hele's Terrace
- Bus lanes and priority at junctions
City centre
- Rationalisation of existing bus lanes and improved bus priority
Please note that these are still options and are subject to rigorous testing and public consultation.
Designs developed for the Phase 1 Transport Options public consultation
Early designs for the Eastern Corridor High Quality Public Transport (HQPT) Major Scheme have been produced to progress the scheme to this stage and to support the Eastern Corridor Major Scheme - Phase 1 public consultation undertaken in July and August 2008.
As the scheme develops we will seek to provide the most relevant and up-to-date designs here.
At this stage these early designs are to help in the development of options and to encourage you to contact us with concerns and suggestions you may have.
