Extra care housing
Extra Care housing is designed to support the needs of people with physical disabilities or a learning disability and older people who need a little bit of extra support to remain living independently.
The difference between living in Sheltered Housing and Extra Care housing is the peace of mind that goes with having care staff available 24 hours a day. The majority of Extra Care properties can be rented and some are available to buy or own as a shared ownership.
To be eligible for Extra Care housing you will need to have an assessment of your needs completed by Plymouth City Council’s Adult Social Care Department and will also need to complete a Devon Home Choice housing application form.
A leaflet explaining Extra Care housing further is available to download below or to find out more information you can talk to your care manager.
If you do not have a care manager but feel that you might be entitled to support from adult social care call our contact centre on 01752 668000 who can arrange for an assessment of your needs to be carried out.
