Green space
There are a great variety and number of locations to enjoy the green space within Plymouth. We are involved in conservation, enhancement and protection of natural landscapes, habitats, wildlife and trees and hedges.
Plymouth has numerous
- County Wildlife Sites (CWS)
- Local Nature Reserves (LNR)
- Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)
- Parks
Habitats within these sites include woodland, grassland, hedgerows, cliffs, quarries, marshes, lakes, estuaries and marine habitats. Not all of these sites are accessible to the public for a variety of reasons.
Public Rights of Way (PROW) are important as they offer a more sustainable and healthier way to enjoy Plymouth. PROW allow people to replace the use of cars and public transport and take pleasure in Plymouth using alternatives methods, such as walking and cycling.
