Priority sectors
The Plymouth Local Economic Strategy 2006 to 2021 and beyond (LES) identifies six priority sectors:
- Advanced manufacturing
- Marine and renewables
- Medical and healthcare
- Business services
- Creative industries
- Tourism and leisure
These sectors were identified as ones that would aid the diversification of the Plymouth economy by utilising the skills already in the city. The development of these sectors is not, however, to the detriment of other sectors.
Through the LES review process being undertaken by the Plymouth Growth Board, the six priority sectors have been formalised with a focus to accelerate the growth of the advanced manufacturing and marine and renewables sectors.
The priority sectors each have a lead from within the sector. The co-ordination of these sectors is currently under discussion.
