Testimonials
The Plymouth Marine Laboratory is an independent and impartial collaborative centre of the Natural Environment Research Council [NERC]. On the 1 April 2002 Plymouth Marine Laboratory transferred from being a wholly owned Natural Environment Research Council research centre to form an independent organisation with charitable status. The new Plymouth Marine Laboratory Group comprises Plymouth Marine Laboratory (a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales, with charitable status) and a trading subsidiary - to facilitate the exploitation of Plymouth Marine Laboratory research and its products and to provide a more appropriate interface for working with industrial and commercial partners.
‘Plymouth Marine Laboratory is a world-renowned centre of excellence for marine science and technology. As an international business, people and their skills and innovation are at the heart of our business and so we need to attract the best recruits available. Plymouth provides no barriers to us achieving our recruitment targets, whether that is drawing on locally trained personnel or attracting international calibre scientists to move to Plymouth. We currently have about 20% of our staff and students from outside the UK, making Plymouth their home.
Our scientists travel around the world in collaborations or to present at conferences, and we attract scientists from around the world to visit Plymouth for collaborative research, conferences, sabbaticals or more commercial interests. Plymouth is a wonderful city in which to do business, the environment is stunning and visitors always feel welcome and at home in Plymouth. Whether our colleagues come from North America or the Far East and China, they find their time in Plymouth stimulating and exciting. Marine science and technology is thriving in Plymouth - come and join a maritime city on the move!’
