Door supervisors
Whenever any persons are employed at licensed premises to carry out any security activity, all such persons must comply with the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 and any successive legislation. The licensing authority may consider that certain premises require strict supervision for the purpose of promoting the reduction of crime and disorder. In such cases, if relevant representations are made the licensing authority may impose a condition that licensed door supervisors must be employed in appropriate numbers with regard to the number of customers on the premises either at all times or at such times as certain licensable activities are being carried out.
Overcrowding is a matter for public safety but it can lead to disorder and violence. Where this is an issue consideration will be given to whether door supervisors would be needed to ensure that the numbers are appropriately controlled.
