Temporary Event Notices (TENs)
Some small-scale events, depending on the circumstances may be held under the authority of a TEN. There are various restrictions in relation to the number of TENs for individuals and premises and event organisers are strongly advised to obtain advice well in advance of the event.
Police can object to a TEN only where they consider the event is likely to undermine the crime prevention objective
The Act requires a TEN to be served upon the Licensing Authority and the police not less than 10 working days prior to the event. (The 10 days does not include the day of service or the first day of the event.) In practice this is unlikely to be sufficient time to allow any concerns to be resolved and organisers are advised to serve such notice well in advance of the event date.
