Plymouth City Centre one of eight UK cities chosen for Olympic big screen

Plymouth City Centre is set to play a key role in celebrations leading up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games after being chosen as one of eight UK cities which is to receive a new high-tech giant screen.

The screen will put Plymouth on the national map as an Olympic ‘Live Site’ and means the city will act as a focus for the Olympics in the region in the run-up to the 2012 Games. It will also be a focal point for open air entertainment, cultural and sporting activities.

Plymouth Summer Festival 2008 unveils spectacular four-month events programme

Plymouth Summer Festival has unveiled an impressive line-up of local, national and international events for its 2008 programme following a hugely successful inaugural year in 2007. The newly designed Plymouth Summer Festival website has been launched highlighting all of the events taking place across the city.

City centre car park receives Safer Parking Award

Western Approach car park has been awarded the prestigious Safer Parking Award following £200,000 of major improvements. The work which includes new lighting, improved signage, new CCTV and enhanced quality of decoration, has just been completed. These improvements, together with very low crime levels, have resulted in the car park receiving the Safer Parking Award from the British Parking Association.
