Notice of ballot

Local Government Act 2003

Notice is hereby given that:

Plymouth City Centre Company Limited in partnership with Plymouth City Council is promoting the establishment of a Business Improvement District (BID) within the retail and business quarter of Plymouth city centre. The map in the attachment below indicates the extent of the BID area.

A ballot will be held in relation to proposals developed by the Plymouth City Centre Company Limited. Details of the proposals are contained in the BID Business Plan, which will be supplied to each nominated voter during week beginning 11 September 2009.

Voting in the ballot will take place by post only.

Ballot papers will be sent out to non-domestic ratepayers in the Plymouth city centre retail and business quarter, which are liable for the BID levy, on or by 1 June 2009. If the ballot paper has been lost, spoilt or not received, please contact The Deputy Ballot Holder at the Civic Centre, Plymouth PL1 2EW as soon as possible, telephone 01752 304866.

The question to be asked at the ballot is:

"Are you in favour of the Business Improvement District (BID) proposals for - Armada Way, Bedford Way, Charles Street, Cobourg Street (South Side), Colin Campbell Court, Cornwall Street, Courtenay Street, Derry's Cross (from The Halifax Bank to Derrys Department Store), Drake Circus Shopping Centre, Eastlake Street, Exchange Street, Exeter Street (from The Post Office to Charles Cross Church - North Side), Frankfort Gate, Market Avenue, Market Way, Mayflower Street, Money Centre Precinct, New George Street, North Cross, Old Town Street, Raleigh Street, Royal Parade (North Side), St. Andrew’s Cross (from H Samuel Limited to The Post Office), The City Market, Union Street (Prince Regent Public House to the Halifax Bank - East of Western Approach), Western Approach (East Side)"

Ballot papers must reach The Deputy Ballot Holder, Electoral Services, Civic Centre, Plymouth PL1 2AA by no later than 5pm on 16 October 2009 (known as the day of ballot). Ballot papers received after this time will not be counted.
