Half term fair rides
11 to 24 February
Piazza
During the half term holidays a number of fairground rides will sited around the city centre, including Frankfort Gate and Armada Way.
Chinese New Year - lion dance
10 February at 11.30am
Sundial
Visitors to the city centre will be able to enjoy the colourful lion dance performed at the sundial. The performance will start at the sundial at 11.30am and the dancers will then travel through the piazza towards Royal Parade as part of the Chinese New Year activities taking place in the Guildhall.
The lion dance originated in China close to a thousand years ago where the lion is traditionally regarded as a guardian creature in Chinese culture.
Farmers market
23 February
Sundial
With 25 stalls setting up twice a month selling a wide variety of local produce, the city centre farmers market is a lively and bustling market to visit. Situated by the sundial in the heart of the city centre shoppers can source produce which has been reared, grown or made by local farmers.
Visitors to the market can expect to find locally reared ostrich meat, pork, beef, lamb, locally grown strawberries and vegetables, plus locally produced cheeses, chutney, pies and pasties. The market is held in the city centre on the second Saturday of the month and is open from 9am to 5pm.
