Housing options
It may be that if you are experiencing domestic abuse in your home, you feel unable to remain there and want to leave. But what can you do and where can you go?
To start with you might just want to find out what your options are so that you can be well prepared and able to leave your home in a planned way. Our housing advice service can give you advice and information on all your housing options, including helping you to stay in your home, pointing you to other organisations for support, finding accommodation with a private landlord, helping with temporary accommodation if required, or speaking to the homelessness team.
If you decide that you would like to speak to us for advice and assistance please phone for an appointment on 01752 305496 or come to the Civic Centre for some immediate advice from our front desk advisers and an appointment with a housing adviser.
The opening hours are:
- Monday to Friday - 8.30am to 5pm
If you are already a tenant of a housing association, you should contact a member of staff at your local housing office first.
In an emergency, you can contact the out of hours service on 01752 668000 and ask to speak to the duty officer. They can arrange for you and your family to be provided with alternative accommodation immediately, either in a local guesthouse or a refuge.
Alternatively, you may wish to approach either Shelter or the Plymouth Citizens Advice Bureau who will also be able to offer you advice and information.
