Rapid Reach
Free warning and informing service
Plymouth City Council are pleased to advise you that in partnership with Chevron Ltd and ConocoPhillips a free warning and informing service has been introduced for residents in the Cattedown public information zone. Further information can be found at the Safeguard website.
The service is designed to contact you through your home and mobile telephones, (including SMS text). Using automated messaging it is designed to advise you of a major incident at any of the sites, and highlight what actions you should take to ensure your safety. The service can also keep you informed throughout the incident.
Whilst the possibility of a major incident is very unlikely we would strongly encourage you to register for this new free communication service. You will be required to complete a simple application form in order to receive this service. Your details will not be passed to any other organisations for marketing purposes.
For an application form, or to change your details if you are already a member, please contact the Civil Protection Unit at Plymouth City Council on 01752 304794 or email civil.protection@plymouth.gov.uk.
Alternatively register here using our online registration form.
How the service works
On receipt of a Rapid Reach emergency notification service message you will hear the following:
'This is an important message from Plymouth City Council'.
You will then be advised to:
- Press 1 to hear the message
- Press # to hear the message again
- Press 2 to confirm you have heard the message
The service will be tested in December of each year.
