Plymouth Warn and Inform
Plymouth City Council are pleased to advise that a free warning and informing service has been introduced for residents and businesses close to one or more of the following sites:
- Devonport Site ('The Dockyard')
- Defence Munitions, Ernesettle (the storage site near the Tamar Bridge)
- Defence Fuels Group, Oil Fuel Depot Thanckes, Torpoint
- Valero Energy Ltd, Cattedown
- Greenergy, Cattedown
The operators of these sites must pass you information if there is an accident or emergency which may affect you. Currently this information is likely to be broadcast through the local media - radio and television. However, new technology means that it is now possible to pass this information to your mobile phone (by voice or SMS text message) and landline.
Plymouth City Council and Cornwall Council have worked together with the site operators to bring in a system to warn you of an accident that might affect you. It will advise you of the actions to take to keep your family or co-workers safe, and will also let you know when the all-clear is given.
Whilst major accidents and emergencies associated with these types of site are extremely rare we would encourage you to register for this free service.
You can also register to receive this service if you have a family member or friend who lives in one of the Public Information Zones and you want to be able to help them if something happens.
Registration
If you live in the Cattedown, Devonport, Ernesettle or Torpoint area please register using the Warn and Inform service.
