About Us
Who are we?
We are a team of paid staff and trained volunteers who offer impartial and accurate information and support to parents, carers and staff in other agencies. Parent Partnership is a statutory service, managed as part of the Plymouth Psychology Service, but maintained to ensure its independence so that parents and carers have confidence in the neutrality of the service.
We support parents and carers who have concerns about their child's education and/or development including children with additional or special needs.
What are our aims?
- To give you impartial and accurate information and support
- To help you to make decisions about your child's education
- To encourage good working relationships between you, your child's school, Plymouth City Council's education service and other agencies
- To support schools and other agencies in continuing to develop good working practices with parents and carers
What do we do?
- Provide confidential support and information
- Help you to make contact with other services, including interpreters
- Provide a trained volunteer to support you at meetings
- Help with reports, letters and other paperwork
- Offer Training courses for parents and professionals
- Help with support and meeting facilities for parent groups
- Help you to seek your child's views about their education
We can provide information and support about:
- Additional or special educational needs
- Children of pre-school age
- School admissions
- Exclusions from school
- Disagreement resolution service
- The range of services to support parent and carers leaving school
We also provide:
- A resource base of books and videos for parent, carer and professional use
- A range of leaflets that are also available to download online on our Publications page
- A Directory of Services for parents
