Sell2Plymouth - Plymouth Public Procurement Forum launch

Venue: University of Plymouth
15 July 2009
Various sessions throughout the day

The forum includes the City Council, University and National Health Service (NHS) who are keen to help small firms better understand their procurement procedures. The Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) are committed to increasing the amount of small and medium businesses in the city. The forum will also, through a new website, help simplify qualification procedures for businesses wanting to sell to the public sector.

Initially these partners will advertise contract opportunities up to £20,000 on the website. It is intended that the service will expand from the initial pilot into a wider scheme covering more public sector buying agencies and bigger contracts. For further details regarding the launch please contact Sam Davis on 01752 586043 or email samantha.davis@plymouth.ac.uk.

LSP Forum - May 2009

Plymouth 2020's Wealthy Theme Groups held its first LSP forum on 22 May. The event, dedicated to 'Shaping Plymouth's response to the recession'.

Presentations were given by Government Office South West on the Government initiatives available, Citizens Advice Bureau as well as feedback from the LSP Theme Groups on initiatives they were already aware of, along with a presentation providing the view of a local gentleman being made redundant and dealing with the arising issues.

The final part of the morning provided an opportunity to discuss issues raised and ideas of how the partnership could work better together. The Theme Groups will now be tasked with defining actions to take forward over the coming year to help the people of Plymouth during the recession.
