Local Area Agreement and equalities
As part of our work to promote equalities and inclusive communities we have ensured that Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) have been carried out to support the delivery of Local Area Agreement targets.
An EIA is a systematic process to determine the impact on relevant equalities groups of service delivery and policy decisions. It is also an assessment to see if that impact is adverse or not.
To support the delivery of the 2007 to 2010 Local Area Agreement, equality impact assessments have been completed to support the delivery of the outcomes listed below.
| Outcome number | Outcome |
|---|---|
| CYP 1 | To improve engagement with children and young people in service delivery including vulnerable children and those with disabilities. |
| SSC 1 | Reduce re-offending amongst priority offenders. |
| SSC 1.1 | Reduce crime. |
| SSC 2 | Reduce harm caused by domestic violence. |
| SSC 3 | Reduce crime and narrow the gap. |
| SSC 6 | Building respect in the communities and reduce anti social behaviour. |
| SSC 7 | Percentage of residents who feel they can influence decisions affecting their local area (indicator). |

| SSC 7.4 | Satisfaction in the way racist incidents are reported (indicator). |
| SSC 7.5 | Percentage of people from black and minority ethnic communities who feel that one or more public services would treat them worse than people of other races (indicator). |

For 2008 to 2011, the completion of equality impact assessments is a key aspect for the refreshed Local Area Agreement delivery planning process. In due course the details of delivery plans and equalities impact assessments to support the new LAA will be published on these pages.
