Plymouth Compact
Plymouth 2020 is currently revising the Plymouth Compact and three Codes of Practice into one simplified document in line with the national Compact published in December 2010. A three month consultation period was launched on 1 June when comments were invited from a wide range of organisations.
A consultation event was held on 14 July with representatives from the voluntary and community and public sectors to discuss suggestions for the main commitments that should be included in a revised Compact. Following that event we are now proposing to set up a small working group to look at the detailed wording of commitments. We hope to produce a first draft in the next few weeks which will be widely circulated and included on the website for comments. A further event is planned to agree a final draft.
Please see below for the current Compact and Codes of Practice:
The new National Compact can be viewed on the Cabinet Office website.
Please send your comments to plymouth2020@plymouth.gov.uk
What is the Plymouth Compact?
The Plymouth Compact is an agreement between primarily local public sector bodies and the Third sector (voluntary and community organisations) to support and improve partnership working between the sectors and as a set of principles that all public and Third sector organisations should adopt. The Compact document sets out the broad principles and is supported by codes of practice based on national codes which cover the following areas:
- Black and minority ethnic communities
- How we will consult with you
- Funding and procurement
