Corporate Equality and Diversity targets
We are committed to valuing, promoting and celebrating equality, diversity and community cohesion in order to ensure that our residents, employees and visitors enjoy an outstanding quality of life. We are also committed to ensuring that people in our multi-cultural city have equal access to high quality services and the right to live, learn and work, free from discrimination.
In order to achieve this, we have set corporate equality and diversity targets which apply to every department in our council. The targets measure how well we are performing against challenging targets around having a diverse workforce. We do this to make sure that our staff reflects the community we serve. This means making sure that we are employing a mix of people who are best placed for serving our diverse communities and ensuring they feel valued and safe at work, regardless of their background, ethnicity, ability, faith and sexual orientation. Every year our Corporate Equality Group (CEG) set the next year’s targets to make sure we are achieving equality and diversity across our authority.
Our Human Resources service has corporate lead responsibility for monitoring, overseeing and promoting equality in employment, using methods like best practice and providing monitoring reports to enable implementation of this policy to be regularly reviewed.
In the documents table below we tell you how well we think we have done and if you would like to comment on this you can contact our Have your Say service or email us, haveyoursay@plymouth.gov.uk or telephone 01752 668000.
