Scrutiny
Scrutiny is essential to the success of the political management arrangements - it is one of the ways in which the Council’s performance is monitored and it holds decision-makers accountable for the action that they have taken.
Scrutiny is a broad ranging role which involves:
- analysis and researching policy and policy options and making recommendations to the Cabinet and/or Full Council
- reviewing decisions made by the Cabinet to assess their impact and effectiveness
- contacting other agencies and organisations - whether in the city or further afield about issues affecting local people
- investigating issues connected with delivery of the Council’s services
- monitoring the Council’s performance and budget to ensure that it is meeting its aims and objectives
Meetings
Information regarding all meetings of the Scrutiny Panels can be viewed on our minutes and agendas section.
