Plymouth Independent Providers Forum
The first meeting of the Plymouth Independent Provider Forum was held on 30 June 2005. Copies of the minutes of this and subsequent meetings, along with dates of upcoming meetings, are available by contacting the Supporting People Team.
Aims/purpose of the forum
- Facilitate and promote joint working and effective partnerships between Service Providers, the Plymouth Supporting People Team, the Commissioning Body and the Core Strategy Group
- Act as a vehicle to feed issues into debate at regional level and to provide a collective voice for the Providers of Plymouth
Role/activities of the forum
- To provide mutual support, generally as peer group support, but also addressing particular challenges for smaller providers
- To share good practice, knowledge, experience and skills and be willing to challenge poor practice
- To share information and discuss issues
- To work with the Plymouth Supporting People Team regarding training needs and to improve awareness and the implementation of best practice.
- To share training opportunities
- To actively promote good links and dialogue with the Plymouth Supporting People Team, Core Strategy Group and others for consultation, strategy development, supply and needs mapping
- To lobby the Supporting People Team, Commissioning Body, Core Strategy Group and Regional Implementation Group, where appropriate, on issues that affect service provision
- To provide a forum for Plymouth Supporting People Team to give feedback to and enable consultation with Providers on relevant issues including strategy development
