Making the most of Mount Edgcumbe

Not sure what to do today? Then why not pop along to Mount Edgcumbe and see what we have to offer for a fun family day out. Whether you arrive by car or hop on the Cremyll Ferry from Plymouth (ferry takes seven minutes), Mount Edgcumbe is not as far away as you may think. Find out how to get here.

With the recently renovated service buildings now open free of charge you can see what life used to be like in the old sawmill and wheelwrights, and even try out a few of the machines!

For those of you interested in the wilder side of life, take a peek at our nocturnal residents using the batcam which keeps an eye on the maternity roost here on the park. If you're looking for something a little larger then visit the deer park and see the fallow deer that are resident here all year round.

If you want to take a journey back in time then why not visit the house where we have a stunning collection of reproduction Tudor costumes. With costumes in all sizes, mum and dad, as well as children can all try on these beautiful hand-made costumes. With lots of laughter, great photo opportunities you can walk like a Tudor down the imposing staircase of the Great Hall.

And that's not all we have to offer in the house! Find out more the fun way by trying out the 'Mount Edgcumbe Files' quiz sheet and our 'Spot the Detail?' trail. You can pick up a recipe for a ship's biscuit or colour in a sea monster mask in the Admiral of the Blue exhibition.

Still got some energy to burn off? Visit the Cremyll Shop in the Lower Park and pick up one of our quiz packs. With a choice of packs suitable for all ages you can spend a couple of hours solving the mysteries of the park, stop off in the Orangery or Stables for a spot of lunch and continue on your quest.

And while you're exploring the park, make sure you don't miss the fantastic Victorian Shell Seat and see just how many shells, fossils and stalagmites you can spot embedded in the walls of the seat!

With so much to do, maybe a day just isn't enough!
