Planning your visit
Car parking
Pay and display car parks at Cremyll and Barrow Park. Free car parks at Maker and Rame Head.
Coach parking
Cremyll and Barrow car parks. Booked groups can be set down near the House.
Toilets
Free toilets at Cremyll, the Orangery Restaurant, Barrow and Rame car parks as well as the house foyer.
Refreshments
Light refreshments, hot meals, sandwiches, and a selection of cakes are available at:
- The Stables Cafe (seating for approximately 50) in the Barrow Park Centre
- and The Orangery Restaurant in the formal gardens in the lower park (seating 100).

Menus can be supplied.
Pasties, light refreshments, ice-creams and sweets are available from The Cremyll Shop.
Restricted winter openings, although available to hire for wedding receptions, private functions and parties.
Dogs
Dogs are to be kept under control in the park. On a lead in the formal gardens, but we regret they cannot be allowed in the Earl's garden. A scoop bag dispenser is located near the lower gate.
How long?
Groups should allow two hours to visit the house and Earl's garden and a further one and a half if they wish to explore the formal gardens and have refreshments.
Eco Bus
We have a small passenger electric bus running within the Park when the House is open. It connects the House with the Barrow car park and the lower park at the Cremyll Gate. It runs approximately each half hour. A timetable is displayed at the stops.
Guide book
This is available from the reception shop - £3.50 or posted - £4.10. This gives information and the history of the country park, house and family.
Shops
There is a plant centre and two gift shops at Mount Edgcumbe. The Plant Centre and The Barrow Park Shop are open from April to September and sell:
- Interesting gifts selected where possible from Cornish produced goods
- Plants grown on the Estate, including varieties of Camellias
- Tapestries will again be for sale along with a lovely selection of cards, books, china and more
The Cremyll Shop is open all year round
- This shop is an information and gift shop located near the front gate in the lower park
- It also sells a selection of snacks, ice-creams and refreshment.
Orienteering
There is a good orienteering course in the country park. Groups should obtain an indemnity form from the office at the House in advance. A charge is made for orienteering maps (50p) which are accompanied by question and answer sheets. These are available from the House Shop or on request by telephone.
Filming
Mount Edgcumbe has been the venue for filming in past years. As the house and park have many and varied opportunities we welcome enquiries. Recent films and scenes which have featured Mount Edgcumbe are two of Rosamund Pilcher stories and The Hornblower series.
Additional information for disabled visitors
There is disabled car park adjoining the House - follow the signs from Barrow car park entrance. Special access is available to the House, ask at the Reception. Special toilets are located at the Orangery Restaurant; Barrow and Rame car parks as well as in the House.
There is a passenger lift within the house that allows those with walking difficulties to reach the first floor which includes the access to the exhibition rooms.
Badge holders can also park at Barn Pool - a special ticket is available on request from the house reception or information shop.
