Conservation
The work of the conservation department involves the essential preservation and maintenance of Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery’s collections.
It is a vital and often unseen aspect of Museum life with much work being done behind the scenes to ensure that the many thousands of items we own are appropriately cared for.
Our team of paintings, paper, objects and preventative conservation staff also carry out collection surveys, environmental monitoring and control in all display and storage areas, supervise the installation and monitoring of exhibitions and provide advice across the museum.
Advice is also available to the public, on the conservation of personal heritage items and where to find specialist conservators.
