SNOWDON: Iconic Images
Community Exhibition Response
SCOPE
During the course of the exhibition our Outreach Team and artist Jo Tyler worked with SCOPE, the charity for people with cerebral palsy, to create a unique photographic exhibition inspired by Lord Snowdon’s work. The result was a series of stylish black and white portraits shot on location at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel, Morwellham Quay and Mount Edgcumbe House.
Creative Writing Group
Artist Ali Roscoe worked with our Creative Writing Group to produce pieces of work inspired by the exhibition. The work the group did was called 'more than meets the eye' and involved four tasks:
- Choosing a portrait from the collection with lots of detail. Explaining in words what is seen, heard, smelt, tasted and what could be felt by touch
- Finding a portrait and being the subject
- Finding a portrait and saying what happened next
- Starting a dialogue as either the subject or the photographer
Visit the Creative Writing Group page to see some of the pieces they produced.
Put Yourself in the Frame workshops
To mark the start of Museums and Galleries Month 2007 we held a day of workshops on Saturday 5 May where visitors could have their portrait taken and then add it to a map of Plymouth along with comments about what they think of their city. To read some of the comments visit the Put Yourself in the Frame page.
