Investigate nature in our fun natural history gallery which is packed full of fascinating facts and thrilling things. Fur and feathers to feel, bugs to boggle at, eerie pickled animals to peek at and scent to smell. Plus, see old favourites like the hippo skull and collections that have rarely seen the light of day.

The Cottonian Collection

The life's work of 18th century collector Charles Rogers. Includes paintings, bronzes, plasters, prints, drawings, books and works by Sir Joshua Reynolds. A collection of designated international importance.
The China Connection
Re-opening date to be confirmed
Discover the story of porcelain from its origins in China, to the groundbreaking work of Plymouth man William Cookworthy, who first made hard paste porcelain in the UK.
See beautiful, traditional blue and white porcelains, famille verte and famille rose enamels from the collection of local businessman Arthur Hurdle, tin-glazed earthenware from England and Holland and fine European soft paste porcelains. More of our decorative art collections can be seen in our balcony case displays.
St Ives School

A selection of works from the Museum's significant 20th century collection featuring leading figures of the St Ives School such as Alfred Wallis, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton and Peter Lanyon.
