Primary school admissions 2008

This information relates to school admissions for entry in September 2008 to January 2009.

The information is designed to help you if your child is due to start primary school in September 2008 or January 2009. It explains how we deal with applications and enable you to apply for a school place by using our application form.

The information is also available in a booklet entitled 'Starting School in Plymouth - a parent’s guide to primary school admissions in 2008 to 2009'. The booklet contains a paper application form. Booklets are available from your local primary school. Alternatively please contact us and we will send you a copy.

Help and advice is available from the Council’s School Admissions Team on telephone 01752 307166. Independent advice is available from ACE (Advisory Centre for Education) on their help line, telephone: 0808 800 5793 and also from the Parent Partnership Service on telephone 01752 258933 or email parent.partnership@plymouth.gov.uk.

The Government has published a Code of Practice on school admissions which explains the good practice guidelines that we follow.

The deadline for applications for admissions in September 2008 to January 2009 was 4 January 2008. It is in your best interest to ensure that we receive ypur application on time. Whilst we are happy to accept late applications, we may not be able to deal with them alongside, or in exactly the same way as, those submitted on time and many of the schools may have already been filled by those applicants who applied on time.
