School admissions

Secondary school admissions

If you have a child that is due to transfer from primary to secondary school, you need to apply for a place at a secondary school through the City Council rather than the school direct. For information about the secondary school admission procedure please visit the secondary school admissions page. For in-year admissions, that is, admissions other than the primary to secondary transfer stage, you can approach the school direct. If you are unable to secure a place for your child at school, contact the school admissions team on 01752 307170 for help and advice.

Primary school admissions

If you have a child that is due to start school for the first time, you need to apply for a place at an infant/primary school through the City Council rather than the school direct. If you have a child that is due to transfer from infant to junior school, you need to apply for a place at a junior school through the City Council rather than the school direct. Determined school admission arrangements

In accordance with regulation 8A of the Education (Determined Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 1999 (as amended) Plymouth City Council gives notice that the admission arrangements for the 2009 to 2010 academic year for all of the maintained primary and secondary schools in Plymouth have been determined.
