Primary school reorganisation in Woodford, Plympton

A Plymouth City Council school reorganisation project in partnership with the Governing Bodies of Woodford infant and junior schools.

From September 2010, Woodford infant and junior schools will be replaced by a new, all-through community primary school on the current site. The new school will have 420 pupil places and an admission number of 60.

The new school is expected to:

  • improve even further the quality of teaching and learning in the area
  • provide better continuity and consistency and give pupils a smoother transition between Key Stage 1 and 2
  • simplify the links between home and school, especially where families have children in both Key Stage 1 and 2
  • provide a wider range of professional opportunities for school staff, enabling them to extend their skills experience and knowledge
  • enable more efficient and flexible management of staff, finance, accommodation and other school resources

This plan to replace Woodford infant and junior schools with an all-through primary school received final approval from the schools adjudicator in July 2007, following detailed consultations with all interested parties and the completion of all statutory procedures.

The key documents can be downloaded from the documents table below.
