Plymouth City Council Pest Control Section holds the Charter Mark Award for Customer Service. With many years of experience we are here to help you manage the pests that have entered your environment. We offer a range of services from advice and eradication to prevention of further problems.

Domestic premises

A full range of pest control services (some of which are chargeable) throughout the city to domestic households. As a Public Health Pest rats are treated free and mice are treated for a nominal charge. Rates are chargeable for all other pests.

Commercial and school restaurants

A full pest control service as required including monitoring for insects and supply and fitting of a full range of Electronic Fly Killers and Insect Proofing. Our operators are qualified to RSH (Royal Society for Health) Standards in Food Hygiene. We undertake routine inspections and supply on site record books. Advice on best practice is also available from our Environmental Health Officers (EHOs).

Commercial premises

All commercial premises are as likely to be infested with a variety of pests. A contract agreement can be raised to cover against these problems as a single visit or for periods up to one year. These will be reassessed periodically to see if the service is still required.

We share the world and our environment with many other creatures. Those that may be harmful to our environment, or us or amass in such numbers as to become a nuisance by infesting our living and working spaces are seen as pests. Some may require the use of pesticides to remove them; others may only require an adaptation of our structures or living habits to deter them.

Pest control

We conduct fully integrated pest management procedures to cover the broad band of insects, birds, mammals and amphibians that are likely to invade your environment. The work is conducted with safety and regard for wildlife. Chemicals, natural products, trapping and preventative measures are utilised by professionally trained and experienced operators to ensure your problems are identified and remedied quickly and humanely. We will also advise you on the best methods to prevent them from returning. Nationally successful Pest Control companies, who supply our pesticides, equipment and technical support, support the service. This service is registered with the two main national Pest Control Professional bodies.

Wildlife management

Survey and assessment of what pests are infesting your environment. Control of pests that are active in your environment. Actively deterring pests from entering your environment.

Bird proofing and control

The only certain way to prevent birds becoming a pest at your site is to proof it.

Insect proofing

A wide range of modern and Effective Fly Killers (EFKs) are available for supply and fitting along with an extensive range of insect proofing to prevent infestations entering the premises.

Cable bug static electricity

Office and store personnel often complain of flea or other insect bites at work. This may sometimes be the case, but experience has shown that invariably occupants are suffering the results of static electricity. A common occurrence in premises that have dry air plus lots of electrical equipment combined with scuffed feet and chair castors. A survey will reveal which bug is present and a routine anti static treatment can be applied.

Cleansing and clearance

After an infestation of birds and rodents in confined spaces such as attics or sheds has been eliminated, the creatures can leave behind fouling and body wastes that harbour insects and microorganisms that can be severely harmful to human health. We can treat these problems with bio-cides and insecticides to ensure the area is safe for human occupation.

Insect identification

If you have concerns with insects found on your premises, we can identify them for you and recommend what if any treatment may be necessary. A securely packed sample and history is all that is required.

Professional reports

To advise on results of surveys and identifications and to offer professional advice in complaint and litigation issues.

Advisory service

Advice is available on all pest related subjects when a contract is undertaken. Domestic residents can gain free advice at all times.

Service contracts

Once the problem or risk has been fully assessed, as part of our IPM approach we will plan a maintenance programme to ensure that problems are prevented from returning. The programme will be one that ensures protection against pests and also one that is financially agreeable to the customer.
