Access consultancy

The access consultancy within building control consists of two access consultants who have over 25 years experience between them in this field. They are both consultant members of the National Register of Access Consultants - see National Register of Access Consultants for further details.

The team offer a friendly, personal and professional service with help and advice on any aspect of access provision. The team have comprehensive knowledge and experience in areas covered by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) particularly Part III (access to goods, facilities and services).

They have good links with disabled people and access/design professionals, such as the Plymouth Disability Network, the Hearing and Sight Centre and the South West Access Forum (which is made up of access professionals across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset).

All aspects of access consultancy can be undertaken, from offering general advice and appraisals at the initial design stage through to comprehensive access audits and training. The access onsultants can advise you on how to improve policies, practices and procedures in order to help you meet the requirements of the DDA.

In addition the consultancy can undertake training/seminars tailored to particular client requirements on a variety of subjects including best practice guidance and inclusive design.
