Smoke free public places and workplaces
Manage the shift to smoke freedom
The Health Act 2006 will be introduced on 1 July 2007 and will make all indoor public places and work places smoke free. Managers and owners of all businesses in Plymouth will have specific legal duties to:
- display no smoking signs
- take steps to stop their customers and staff from smoking in enclosed places
Members of the public will have a duty not to smoke in a smoke free place.
There is more useful information and full details of the new requirements on the Smoke Free England website.
Environmental Health have teamed up with the Plymouth NHS Smoking Cessation Service to offer free information sessions for businesses in Plymouth. Please contact us to discuss the new law, how it will affect your business and to receive an information pack to help implement the changes.
We have produced a guide to help businesses who wish to provide areas for staff and customers to smoke outside of their premises which can be downloaded below.
