Submitting a search

To submit an electronic search application please complete a form below;

Once you have completed the form please email it to llcsearches@plymouth.gov.uk together with a plan (boundary to be outlined in red).

Please ensure that the property search address is quoted in subject bar.

Payment options

We offer various payment options:

  • Cheques - cheques should be made payable to Plymouth City Council and forward by DX 8278 PLYMOUTH 2 or posted to the Local Land Charges Section, Plymouth City Council, Civic Centre, Plymouth PL1 2AA.
  • Credit card - once your application has been validated then confirmation will be sent to you with instructions on how to make an electronic payment.
  • BACS - a BACS payment can be set up for applicants that submit local search applications on a regular basis. Please telephone 01752 304478 for further information.

Local search applications are currently being completed within four working days - submit your search on Monday and you will have the official search certificate electronically returned to you by Thursday of the same week.

Notes

On the search form and the enquiry form please give a full description including location and postcode of the property to be searched against. If the property has been officially postally named and numbered, then it is essential that you quote the official address and not the plot address.

Plans

All requisitions must clearly define the boundary of the land/property by means of a red boundary outlining the search area. Two copies of an up-to-date Ordnance Survey plan scale 1:1250 or 1:2500 are required with all search applications.

Applications received accompanied by poor quality/unacceptable plans (or no plans) will be rejected and returned. This will unfortunately delay the search process as Plymouth City Council does not have a policy of holding applications which are incomplete. Developer's site plans must also be accompanied by a location plan.

Fees

Please check our current schedule of fees to ensure that you enclose the correct fee.

Box C

Please identify any additional roads/footpaths/footways etc in Box C of the form CON29R and if applicable, mark on accompanying location plan.

Note: Plymouth City Council will only respond to Highway enquiries on adjoining roads and nearest public highways.

CON29O (optional enquiries) must be submitted with the original search requisition to guarantee the set fees. If they are submitted separately, this will incur additional costs.

Completion of the search requisition

Please ensure that your full name address, DX number, telephone/fax number, email address, reference, property search address and all other details are correctly completed on the relevant forms. This enables the local land charges section to confirm that the description matches the plan.

If there is a discrepancy, we will contact you by telephone or email to resolve the query, therefore avoiding a delay in the process of your local search application.

Requisition for local land charges searches and CON29 enquiries should be addressed to:

Local Land Charges Section, Civic Centre, Armada Way, Plymouth PL1 2AA, DX 8278 Plymouth 2
