Guidance

Planning obligations

Planning obligations associated with planning applications can be used to deliver the following:

  • affordable housing
  • requiring infrastructure (roads/drains) to be provided
  • requiring land to be dedicated and equipped as open space/playgrounds
  • requiring sums to be paid for off site provision of services/infrastructure including education facilities/public realm or art works and other community contributions

Our development plan policies and supplementary guidance related to planning obligations can be viewed on our planning policy page.

A guide to planning obligations protocol/procedures, along with a Section 106 template and details of standard heads of terms is available in the documents table below, along with other forms and guidance.

Planning applicants and agents should be aware that the information they provide in their application form, plus any accompanying drawings and documents, will be made available to the public at the Planning Reception Desk, Ground Floor, Civic Centre and via this website.
