Waste Development Plan Document

This sets out the policy context for considering waste management and disposal facilities in Plymouth.

Its purpose is to ensure that there are effective and adequate policies and proposals to manage waste arisings in the city and to meet waste management targets, particularly for recycling/composting and for landfill reduction.

Where we are

The Waste Development Plan Document was submitted to the Secretary of State on 29 August 2007. Six weeks of consultation ended on 10 October 2007. Eighty comments were received during that period.

An independent planning inspector will now examine the plan to see if it has been written and developed in the proper way. All comments received during the consultation period will be considered by the inspector, and a public examination will take place on 6 and 7 February 2008.
