Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy
Our Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy provides a basis for the sound management of our brownfield land resource. It also underpins the work needed to deal with land contamination whilst at the same time contributing to the fulfilment of the Council’s wider objectives.
Our Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy is formed around the following legal elements:
- Inspection of land within the district with the aim of identifying contaminated land
- Investigation of land to determine the nature and extent of any contamination
- Land remediation
- Encouragement of voluntary remediation
- Working in partnership and consultation with external and internal departments and agencies, including the Environment Agency
We published our Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy in 2001. This document was reviewed in 2009 and copies of both are available below:
