Rubbish and refuse problems
It is an offence for any person to leave large amount of refuse/litter in areas unlawfully and offenders will be liable to prosecution. If you should see any flytipping occurring or notice any fly tipped refuse please make a note of the description of the person flytipping, vehicle registration, location, date and time. Contact Environmental Regulation Services with all the details and we will investigate. Waste deposited in an illegal manner can pose a risk to human health and the environment and can also provide harbourage for vermin.
We deal with a number of refuse problems including:
- rubbish that has been put out for collection too early
- fly tipping which generally occurs on wasteland or country lanes
- accumulations on private property (we will respond but the landowner will be required to have it cleared and the property made secure)
- commercial waste problems ie overflowing bins, accumulations of rubbish
If you would like further information or advice, or would like to make a formal complaint, please ring 01752 304147.
The Environment Agency is also involved in flytipping and the illegal use of land for the storage or disposal of waste. The local Regional office is based at Bodmin.
