The main Council offices are based at the Civic Centre. If you are uncertain which department you need to speak to, ring our main switchboard number shown under contacts on this page and our operators will be pleased to put you through to the correct department.

Our Customer Services opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.

Our friendly and professional Customer Services team deals with many of the phone calls you make to the council, and greets you when you come into the Civic Centre, Ballard House and Midland House. All of our team will try to help with queries and give you advice about other agencies that may be able to help you.

We answer all calls to the switchboard and enquiry lines for waste, council tax, benefits, social care, housing repairs, children and families, recruitment, highways and 'have your say'. In many of these cases we record your comments and requests so that our colleagues in these departments can help you. Whenever we can, we will answer your questions and book any services you need.

Our staff in the Civic Centre will help with planning enquiries, issuing bus passes, and council tax and benefits advice and information.
