Help with online forms

Our online forms have been developed as a simple and secure method of contacting the Council. They are powered by a technology called Java.

If you can't view an online form on this website it probably means you don't have Java installed on your PC. Visit our help with Java page for information on how to check if you have Java and to install it.

America Online (AOL)

If you are an AOL customer, you may experience problems when using our online forms with the AOL browser. If you do, please minimise the AOL browser and view the page using a different browser such as Internet Explorer (download the latest version of Internet Explorer) or Firefox (download the latest version of Firefox).

Using online forms

Our online forms are made up of different screens. You move on to the next screen by clicking on the 'next' button. If the 'next' button is disabled this could be because:

• you need to fill in some compulsory information on the screen before you can move on to the next screen.
• you have filled in some information incorrectly, for example you have used letters in a number only field, or filled in a postcode incorrectly (forms require the postcode in this format; PL1 2AA).
• you have filled in more than one answer when only one answer is required.

Clicking the 'back' button will take you back to the previous screen. Any information you have entered will not be lost by moving backwards and forwards in the form.

Compulsory information

Some fields on forms are compulsory, because we need that information from you to be able to process your form.

If a field is compulsory it will be shaded. If more than one field on a screen is compulsory, each field will become shaded as you move through the screen.

Help

Help text will appear at the bottom of the form if a field is compulsory or if you have filled in some incorrect information, for example a postcode in an incorrect format. The help text applies to the field that is shaded and not necessarily to the field you are in.

Please don't use square brackets [ ] or the pipe | (next to the "z" key) when filling in forms. These characters are used by our forms software and will cause errors when you try to submit your form.
