Decent homes
Council housing in Plymouth will have to meet certain standards by 2010 in order to be meet the decent homes standard, these are:
Fitness
For example:
- be structurally stable
- be free from disrepair
- be free from damp levels that could affect the health of the tenant and any other residents
Reasonable state of repair
- The foundation of the building, the external walls, the windows and the roof must be in a reasonable state of repair
Reasonably modern facilities
For example:
- kitchen of 20 years old or less
- bathroom of 30 years old or less
- adequate noise insulation
Thermal comfort
For example:
- all homes to have a central heating system with timing and temperature controls
- all homes to have effective insulation
