Plymouth United Sheltered Housing Forum (PUSH)

Our sheltered housing forum is a committed group of 24 sheltered housing tenants. There are representatives from most schemes in the group and they get together quarterly, making the most out of the communal lounges to meet and visit each others schemes.

The group has a formal constitution, code of practice and terms of reference which has been written in partnership with the sheltered housing manager, sheltered housing officers, the Tenant Participation Team and the Plymouth Federation of Tenant and Residents Associations (PETRA). They are looking forward to their first formal Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September 2007 where the elections for new and existing tenant representatives will also take place.

Best practice

PUSH have been recognised for the way in which it has developed its forum in partnership with its landlord and are writing a 'How we got here' guide. They have also been given the opportunity to present the process involved in setting up a forum and highlight what they have done to make it work. The presentation will be at the Devon Tenants Participation Conference in September 2007.
