Keys

A key to each home is kept within the sheltered housing office. It is important that tenants do not add any other locks to front doors, without supplying a spare key.

We will ask for permission to use the spare key in an emergency at the start of a tenancy. These keys will only be used in an emergency by the Sheltered Housing Team or emergency services, if they need to get into a home; for example if a tenant has had a fall and cannot get to the door to open it.

It is a good idea for a friend or relative who lives nearby to hold a spare key too, in addition to the sheltered housing officer.
