Education packs
The aim of our education packs is to provide children with the opportunity to develop a basic understanding of local history in the Plymouth area using primary sources as a stimulus.
The pack contains copies of original records held at Plymouth and West Devon Record Office with descriptions of the archives and ideas for activities, including lesson plans. They also have a comprehensive list of Key Stage 2 National Curriculum objectives which can be met during the activities.
A growing emphasis is being paid to teaching history using primary sources and these packs will enable teachers to provide these opportunities for their pupils. They are also a good way to introduce children to the relevance of archives and can be followed up with a visit to the Record Office.
The first pack, Latin, quills and the Spanish Armada, is now available and can be downloaded from our Latin, quills and the Spanish Armada page.
