How to understand the entry for a building

Each of the fields provides the following information:

  • Street address or building name
  • Reference Number - this is the unique number allocated to each planning application. A building can have more than one of these reference numbers. You will need to use this number to order copies of the plans or to view them in the search room of the Record Office
  • Location - this is the location of the property or properties as given on the plan(s) or application(s). Please note that some buildings may have been renumbered or renamed and street names may have changed since the plan was produced
  • Details - the full catalogue entry details are shown here including dates and details of the owner and architect if known
