Location
By car
- Follow the brown tourist signs for "Coxside/Barbican Car Park/National Marine Aquarium" (fish and anchor symbols) to Sutton Road Premier Travel Inn, then turn into Clare Place. Our car park is towards the far end of Clare Place on the left just beyond the Record Office.

By train (bus from Plymouth railway station)
- Most trains to the Westcountry either terminate at Plymouth or stop at Plymouth en route to Penzance or Newquay. Plymouth Citybus service 45/45A passes the railway station every half hour from the bus stop on the main road (not the bus stop in the station forecourt). It stops at the bottom of Clare Place in Sutton Road, a short walk from the Record Office.
By bus
The following services stop close to the Record Office in Sutton Road or outside the Vue Cinema complex (times are shown further down this page).
Outside Sutton Snax's:
- Service 45/45A every half hour from Torpoint Ferry - Devonport Park Avenue or Stoke Village - Millbridge - Railway Station and the city centre (Royal Parade) to Coxside then continues to Cattedown
Outside the Premier Travel Inn:
- Service 45/45A every half hour to the city centre (Royal Parade) - Railway Station - Millbridge - Devonport Park Avenue or Stoke Village - Torpoint Ferry
The service 45/45A is normally operated by a low floor bus with a wheelchair space.
Outside the Vue Cinema Complex:
- X80 operates half hourly Torquay - Paignton - Totnes - Dartington - South Brent - Ivybridge - Lee Mill - Plympton (X80 only) - Coxside - city centre (Bus Station)
- 88 operates hourly Ivybridge - Lee Mill - Marsh Mills - Coxside - city centre (Bus Station)
- X38 Exeter (Bus Station) - Drumbridges - Ashburton - Buckfastleigh - Coxside - city centre (Bus Station) - then return to Exeter
Bus times
- Buses depart from the Railway Station (Main Road): Service 45/45A at 23 and 53 minutes past each hour
- Buses depart from the city centre (Stop A9): Service 45/45A at 1 and 31 minutes past each hour
- Buses return to the city centre and Railway Station: Service 45/45A at 14 and 44 minutes past each hour
- Buses arrive from/depart to Exeter: X38 at 9.45am; then at 45 minutes past each hour until 4.45pm, 5.50pm and 6.50pm
