Plymouth
A large proportion of the 200m3 of records in our custody relate in some way to the old borough and modern city of Plymouth and its areas (including Devonport, East Stonehouse, Compton Gifford and the post-war additions). Of particular relevance are:
- borough archives - as described in R N Worth 'Calendar of the Plymouth Municipal Records', 1893
- minutes and other records of council departments ie Treasurer, Education, Housing, Water Company
- papers of Ad Hoc authorities such as the Local Board and the Commissioners for Paving Lighting and Watching
- records of businesses, charities, clubs and societies, churches, private individuals and families
Printed item: C E Welch 'Plymouth City Charters', 1962 (available from this office for £2.50 including postage)
