Ancestry

Ancestry is the leading online resource for family history and genealogy research, providing access to hundreds of millions of fully searchable pages of pay-per-view information, including England, Wales, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man census returns (1841 to 1901), Scotland census records (1841 to 1901), births, marriages and deaths records, slave registers (1812 to 1834) and US and other international census records. Ancestry: Library Edition

Ancestry: library Edition provides the same service as Ancestry, but is available only through local library authorities. Like Ancestry, Ancestry: Library Edition gives access to hundreds of millions of fully searchable individual records, including the England, Wales, Channel Islands and Isle of Man census records (1841 to 1901), Scotland census records (1841 to 1901), slave registers (1812 to 1834), US (1790 to 1930) and other international census records  and scanned images of many other original historical British and international documents.

British Origins

Searchable databases including England and Wales Gazetteer maps, Boyd's marriage records, English census records (1841 and 1871), burial records, court depositions, wills and apprenticeship and militia records. (Subscription required)

Census Finder

Thirty-two thousand-plus links to UK, US and Canadian census and other records. UK listings are by county, and include extracts of wills, and details from various directories and local and workhouse census returns.

FamilySearch

The "Mormon Index" from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is a searchable resource of millions of entries transcribed from parish registers, censuses and other sources from around the world. The Search for Ancestors section includes the 1881 UK and Canadian and 1880 US censuses, and the International Genealogical Index (IGI). (The IGI is best used together with Hugh Wallis' IGI Batch Numbers).

Find My Past

Previously known as 1837.com, Find My Past includes pay-per-view records and scanned images from England and Wales censuses (1841, 1861, 1871 and 1891), births, marriages and deaths records (1837 to 2004), passenger lists (1890 to 1899) and various military records.

FreeBMD

FreeBMD is an ongoing project transcribing the Civil Registration index from 1837 of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales, and providing free access to those records.

FreeCEN

FreeCEN is an ongoing project providing a free-to-view online searchable database of UK census returns from 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891.

Genogold

Easily searchable website includes free-to-view transcriptions of various parish records and statutory registers in Cornwall (Newlyn East, Kerrier, Penwith and Breage) and Devon (Hartland, Clovelly and Parkham), and various census records in Cornwall (St Columb Major: 1851, Stratton and Poughill: 1851 and Liskeard: 1841) and Devon (Clovelly, West Woolfardisworthy and Welcombe: 1841 and 1861, Hartland: 1841, 1861 and 1871, Plymouth: 1891 and Salcombe: 1861).

Irish Origins

Searchable databases including Griffith's Valuation and Griffith's Survey Maps and Plans, Irish Wills Index (1484 to 1858), the 1851 Dublin City census, Irish Royal Garrison Artillery Records, and Irish "strays" in England and Wales censuses (1841 and 1871).

Scotlands People

Almost 50 million free-to-search (charge-to-view) records, including parish records from 1553, statutory registers from 1855, censuses (1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901) and wills and testaments from 1513.

Scots Origins

Includes International Genealogical Index search, access to researchers of Scottish records from 1700 to 1990, Scottish place search, and articles and discussions on Scottish history.
