NHS Choose and Book

Choose and book lets you choose the hospital you wish to be treated in. The website allows you to make the appointment online. You will need the booking reference and password given to you by your GP when your referral was made.

OMD: Online Medical Dictionary

OMD is a searchable dictionary of over 46,000 entries relating to health and biological science created by Dr Graham Dark of the Department of Medical Oncology, University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The dictionary is hugely comprehensive, and includes acronyms, jargon, theory, conventions, standards, institutions, projects, eponyms and history.

KidsHealth

A US website and an extensive resource for children and young people in adolescence. Includes jargon-free information and advice about common illnesses and typical ailments, articles about lifestyle, drug, diet and development issues, glossary of medical terms, guide to the body, and games area. The major sections of the website are Kids site, Teens site and Parents site.

Mental Health Foundation

The MHF describe this as "the biggest website on mental health (and mental illness) in the UK", providing information about mental health issues, and a gateway to other mental health resources.
