Your library card may give you access to premium online newspaper archives. Have a look at Reference Online to see if your library subscribes.

Many online newspapers have their own archives. Access to these varies depending on the paper. The Guardian online allows access to its archive back to 1996 for free whilst other newspapers require registration or payment to view the archives.

British Pathe

Preview items from the 3500 hour British Pathe Film Archive which covers news, sport, social history and entertainment from 1896 to 1970. You can search and view 'storyboards' of clips for free. In order to download free preview files you must be registered.
